Major League Soccer commissioner: 'New York Red Bulls are not for sale'

The commissioner of Major League Soccer has hit out at reports that the New York Red Bulls are for sale.

A Sports Illustrated article recently claimed that the club's owner, the energy drink manufacturer Red Bull, was "losing interest" in the team.

However, Don Garber issued a statement on the official MLS website which read: "I can absolutely assure you that the New York Red Bulls are not for sale.

"Both the owner and the management team in Austria and in New York are as committed as ever to Major League Soccer, the club and their fans."

Ex-Arsenal striker Thierry Henry currently plays for the Red Bulls.
