Real Madrid to trigger Reguilon buyback clause?

Real Madrid have reportedly stated their intention to trigger Sergio Reguilon's buyback clause.

The Spaniard departed the Bernabeu last year to join Tottenham Hotspur for £27m and he has since made 46 appearances for the North London club.

Reguilon has played every single minute in the Premier League this season, making the left-back spot his own ahead of Ben Davies.

According to El Nacional, Carlo Ancelotti wants to take the 24-year-old back to the Spanish capital, as the club have a €40m (£33m) buyback clause in place that must be activated by the end of June next year.

The report adds that Reguilon "has already said yes" to a return, meaning "now it is a matter of time" before a deal is concluded.

Real Madrid's current first choice left-back Ferland Mendy was only able to make his first appearance of the season against Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday night after recovering from a muscle injury.
