How Real Madrid could line up against Celta Vigo

How Real Madrid could line up against Celta Vigo

Real Madrid are expected to be boosted by the return of Luka Modric to their midfield for Sunday's La Liga clash with Celta Vigo at the recently-refurbished Bernabeu.

Modric has been back in training this week following a muscular problem and is expected to be available to start this weekend, while versatile defender Nacho is also in contention to return from injury.

Toni Kroos has also been out on the grass in the build-up to this match, but it seems unlikely that the Germany international will be risked after a groin problem.

Los Blancos will also definitely be without the services of Ferland Mendy and Dani Ceballos due to their ongoing injury problems.

Head coach Carlo Ancelotti has decisions to make in the final third of the field and could ultimately select Vinicius Junior and Gareth Bale either side of lone forward Karim Benzema.

Eder Militao might just get the nod over fit-again Nacho in the middle of the defence, although much will depend on whether Marcelo is declared fully-fit after his recent fitness problems.

Federico Valverde is expected to retain his spot as part of a three-man midfield, meaning that Isco should drop down to the bench after starting the win over Real Betis before the international break.

Real Madrid possible starting lineup: Courtois; Carvajal, Militao, Alaba, Marcelo; Valverde, Casemiro, Modric; Bale, Benzema, Vinicius
