James Rodriguez hits back at critics

Real Madrid attacker James Rodriguez provides a passionate response to those that have criticised him over recent weeks.

James Rodriguez has responded angrily to his critics in the wake of Real Madrid's 1-1 draw away at Real Betis last night.

The Colombian enjoyed a relatively successful first season at the Bernabeu following his £63m arrival from Monaco in 2014, scoring 17 goals in 46 outings.

It has not been quite so plain sailing this campaign with just eight La Liga starts to his name, as well as having his weight and attitude called into question.

Earlier this month, Rodriguez received further criticism following his involvement in a high-speed police chase.

However, having assisted Karim Benzema to score Madrid's equaliser at the Estadio Benito Villamarin, the 24-year-old hit back.

"I'm always intent on being well and taking care of myself. This pisses me off, those that doubt me, they say that I don't take care of myself, or that I'm fat. I've given a lot to football and I keep giving everything every day," he told reporters.

Rodriguez has recently been linked with a summer switch to Manchester United.
