Real Madrid team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Borussia Monchengladbach

Real Madrid injury, suspension list vs. Monchengladbach

Real Madrid will be looking to book their spot in the last-16 stage of the Champions League when they host Borussia Monchengladbach on Wednesday night.

The Spanish champions know that a win over the Bundesliga outfit will guarantee them a spot in the knockout round of the competition regardless of what happens elsewhere.

Zinedine Zidane's side will enter the European clash off the back of a morale-boosting 1-0 victory away to Sevilla in La Liga on Saturday afternoon.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Madrid's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the fixture with Gladbach, who will go through to the next round if they avoid defeat.

Eden Hazard

Status: Out Type of injury: Muscle Possible return date: Unknown

Eden Hazard, who has struggled with a number of injuries during his time with Madrid, limped off the field against Alaves on November 28 after picking up a muscular issue and is now facing another period on the sidelines.

Sergio Ramos

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: December 9 (vs. Monchengladbach)

Sergio Ramos has been unavailable for selection since picking up a hamstring problem while representing Spain during the recent international break, but the inspirational captain has a strong chance of making a timely return for Madrid in the Champions League clash.

Federico Valverde

Status: Out Type of injury: Shin Possible return date: December 12 (vs. Atletico Madrid)

Los Blancos will again be without the services of Federico Valverde on Wednesday due to a small shin fracture, but the midfielder is now back in recovery training and could feature against Atletico Madrid.

Luka Jovic

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Coronavirus Possible return date: December 9 (vs. Monchengladbach)

Luka Jovic has now tested negative for coronavirus, and the Serbia striker should be available for the European contest despite not featuring in the squad against Sevilla.

Dani Carvajal

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Thigh Possible return date: December 9 (vs. Monchengladbach)

Madrid have been without first-choice right-back Dani Carvajal since the end of September with a thigh issue, but the Spaniard is being tipped to return to the fold against Monchengladbach.

Mariano Diaz

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Unspecified Possible return date: December 9 (vs. Monchengladbach)

Mariano Diaz was not included in the squad against Sevilla due to an unspecified injury, but the forward could be available for selection in the Champions League clash.
