How Real Madrid could line up against Club Brugge

How Real Madrid could line up against Brugge

Real Madrid will be looking for their first Champions League points of the season when they welcome Club Brugge to the Bernabeu on Tuesday night.

Zinedine Zidane's side suffered a 3-0 defeat at Paris Saint-Germain in their Group A opener earlier this month, with the French side proving far too strong despite missing some key players.

Los Blancos have been in solid domestic form in the early stages of the 2019-20 campaign, though, and Saturday's goalless draw at Atletico Madrid saw them return to the top of La Liga.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the capital giants could line up when they welcome Brugge to the Bernabeu.

Out: Marco Asensio (knee), Ferland Mendy (groin) Doubtful: Isco (hamstring), Marcelo (neck)

Zidane still has a problem at left-back with Ferland Mendy on the sidelines with a groin problem, while Marcelo has not played since the middle of the month due to a neck injury.

There is a chance that Marcelo could recover in time for this match, although the versatile Nacho is once again on standby to feature at left-back for the capital giants.

Elsewhere, Marco Asensio is still on the sidelines with a long-term knee injury, while Isco has not featured since the end of last month due to a hamstring complaint.

Luka Modric made his return from a thigh issue as a substitute against Atletico, though, and it is likely that the Croatia international could now be handed a spot in the starting XI.

Further forward, Vinicius Junior could replace Gareth Bale down the right, but Eden Hazard is expected to be handed another starting spot with the Belgian still looking for his first goal since arriving from Chelsea.

Zidane, though, has already shown this season that he is not afraid to make wholesale changes in order to keep players fresh - shuffling his pack for the league clash with Osasuna last week.
