Felix Brych given Madrid derby

German referee Felix Brych will officiate Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final second leg between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid at the Bernabeu.

Experienced German Felix Brych will referee Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final second leg between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.

Serbian Milorad Mazic took charge of the first leg last week, but was criticised by the Atletico camp for his performance.

Atletico midfielder Mario Suarez questioned the decision to hand the match to a referee from one of the smaller European leagues, but Brych has plenty of experience in the Champions League.

Real Madrid and Atletico are currently level at 0-0 from the first leg at the Vicente Calderon last week.

Brych, 39, last refereed in the Champions League when Barcelona recorded a 2-1 win over Manchester City in the last-16 stage of the competition at the end of February.
