Report: Laudrup not in frame for QPR post

Michael Laudrup is not believed to be in line for the Queens Park Rangers managerial vacancy.

The former Swansea City boss was made odds-on favourite on Tuesday after reports claimed that Tim Sherwood had dropped out of the running.

However, Sky Sports News reports that Laudrup, who was sacked by the Swans this time last year, is currently committed to his role with Qatari club Lekhwiya and is not on his way to Loftus Road.

Rangers chairman Tony Fernandes tweeted to say that he is close to securing his "dream" manager following the resignation of Harry Redknapp, who stepped down from the Premier League strugglers last week to undergo knee surgery.

Sherwood was expected to reunite with his Tottenham Hotspur backroom team of Les Ferdinand and Chris Ramsey, but was apparently unimpressed by the club's lack of a long-term plan and the numbers on offer.

Caretaker boss Ramsey led QPR to their first away points of the season with a 2-0 victory at Sunderland last night, which lifted them out of the relegation zone, and is the new 5/2 frontrunner for the permanent post.
