Plymouth re-sign McCormick

Plymouth Argyle have re-signed goalkeeper Luke McCormick on a one-year deal.

The 29-year-old was jailed for seven years and four months in October 2008 for killing Arron Peak, 10, and his brother Ben, eight, in a car crash on the M6.

McCormick, who was twice the drink-driving limit when the collision occurred, had his contract cancelled by the Devon club a month after the crash in June 2008.

However, he has now returned to Home Park, and chairman James Brent believes that he deserves a second chance with the Pilgrims.

"Although Luke made a dreadful mistake with unthinkable consequences, he has served his time and is totally remorseful," said Brent.

"While I respect others who have alternative views, from a moral standpoint, the board and I think Luke is entitled to rehabilitation.

"[Manager] John Sheridan wanted to sign him and the club is totally supportive of that."

McCormick made 15 league appearances for Oxford United earlier this season.
