Perth Glory win at Newcastle Jets

A first-half goal from Chris Harold was enough to earn Perth Glory a 1-0 victory over Newcastle Jets.

Glory were also indebted to a heroic display from goalkeeper Danny Vukovic as they moved up to seventh position in the A-League standings.

After a quiet opening half-hour, Harold pounced on a poor back-pass from a Jets defender to slot the ball home seven minutes before half time.

Harold wasted an opportunity after the break to double his side's advantage but he could only blaze over the bar, and he was nearly made to rue his mistake.

Vukovic produced a smart stop to deny Adam Taggart, and the Glory goalkeeper was forced into a stunning save to prevent Nathan Burns from scoring an equaliser for the home team.
