PEC Zwolle vs. PSV - prediction, team news, lineups

PSV Eindhoven and PEC Zwolle conclude their respective 2021-22 Eredivisie campaigns with a clash at the Mac3Park Stadion on Sunday.

With their positions in the league table already guaranteed heading into the final round of matches, the teams have little to play for this weekend.

Match preview

PSV Eindhoven recorded a sixth straight home league win on Wednesday, beating NEC Nijmegen in a thrilling 3-2 contest.

Roger Schmidt's men raced to a three-goal lead thanks to strikes from Ritsu Doan, Erick Gutierrez and Eran Zahavi before Mikkel Duelund and Jonathan Okita reduced the deficit to set up a thrilling end to the game.

However, the Rood-witten saw their title hopes put to the sword as Ajax claimed a 5-0 victory over Heerenveen to be crowned league champions for a 36th time.

Nonetheless, it has been a wonderful season for PSV, who will now be looking to sign off in style against an opposing side yet to avoid defeat in any of the last 14 meetings between the teams dating back to 2015.

Unbeaten in their last 13 games on the road across all competitions, Sunday's visitors have established themselves as a huge force to be reckoned with away from home.

Zwolle fell to a 2-0 defeat against fellow strugglers Sparta Rotterdam in a crucial relegation six-pointer at the Het Kasteel on Wednesday.

First-half goals from Adil Auassar and then Vito van Crooy condemned Dick Schreuder's men to a damaging loss.

Consequently, the Blauwvingers have been relegated from the Dutch top-flight after 10 consecutive seasons amongst the elite.

Currently with the joint-worst home record in the entire division, Sunday's hosts will be looking to round off what has been an otherwise turbulent season on a positive note.

Team News

Shurandy Sambo and Ryan Thomas are ruled out through knee injuries, while Yorbe Vertessen continues to nurse a groin problem.

PSV will also have to make do with the absence of the Brazilian Andre Ramalho, who is set to sit out a fourth consecutive match.

Cody Gakpo put up a man-of-the-match in the reverse fixture, and the 23-year-old will be looking to deliver the goods once again.

Zwolle's Rico Strieder missed his side's last outing due to a knock, but the midfielder could make his return to action in this one.

Meanwhile, Dean Huiberts and Samir Lagsir are unavailable for this weekend's hosts through ankle and knee injuries respectively.

PEC Zwolle possible starting lineup:

Lamprou; De Wit, Nakayama, Van Polen; Paal, Clement, Van den Belt, Anderson; Kastaneer, Redan, Adzic

PSV Eindhoven possible starting lineup:

Mvogo; Mauro, Teze, Gutierrez, Max; Gotze, Sangare; Gakpo, Doan; Madueke, Zahavi

We say: PEC Zwolle 0-2 PSV Eindhoven

Both sides come into this one with their respective fates already sealed, but we expect an exciting affair nonetheless. We are also backing PSV to come away with all three points at the sound of the final whistle.
