Midfielder Jack Colback has acknowledged that the Nottingham Forest first-team squad are eager to get the new Championship campaign underway.
Forest have spent the last four seasons in mid-table, but the East Midlands outfit have made 10 signings in a bid to challenge for promotion to the Premier League.
The 28-year-old has just returned to Forest on a season-long loan deal from Newcastle United, and the versatile player suggests that he is prepared to work hard in order for Forest to achieve their target.
Colback is quoted by the Nottingham Post as saying: "I am really happy to be back here, I am really excited and looking forward to what is in store.
"I am looking forward to what could be coming. There is a big buzz around the place. The manager has signed some very good players. The Portuguese lads look very good, Hillal Soudani also looks really sharp.
"There is a buzz around the place and we obviously need to take it game-by-game. We have not been granted promotion just by the signings we have made. We know it is going to be a tough, long season and we have to take it one game at a time."
Colback made 16 appearances for Forest during the second half of last season.
