Hughton: 'Ban racists for 10 games'

Norwich City manager Chris Hughton believes that it would make a "clear" statement if players were banned for 10 games for making a racist remark.

Chelsea defender John Terry and Liverpool striker Luis Suarez were banned for four and eight matches respectively for directing comments of a racial nature towards Anton Ferdinand and Patrice Evra but Hughton believes a set 10-match ban would have a greater impact.

Hughton said: "If there was a set ban for offences of a racial nature, then it would be clear.

"10 games is a big chunk of the season. It would make it clear."

Racism has been a hot topic within football in recent weeks with Danny Rose revealing that he was racially abused during an England Under-21 match in Serbia while last weekend, referee Mark Clattenburg was accused of making a racist remark towards Chelsea midfielder John Obi-Mikel.
