Preview: Burnley vs. Norwich City - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole provides team news, predicted lineups and a full preview of Saturday's Premier League fixture between Burnley and Norwich City.

Burnley play host to Norwich City at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon having failed to record a win in any of their last four Premier League fixtures.

Meanwhile, the Canaries make the long trip to the North-West on the back of registering a surprise 3-2 victory over champions Manchester City last weekend.

While Burnley came within seconds of getting two victories from their opening three outings this season, the Clarets now find themselves still looking for just their second success in all competitions.

Last week's point at Brighton & Hove Albion turned out to be a bonus given that Jeff Hendrick's equaliser came during the closing stages, but Sean Dyche will be disappointed to have not built on the convincing win over Southampton on the first day of the campaign.

Burnley now sit in 14th position, just one point above the relegation zone, and Dyche will recognise that his side cannot afford to miss out on a positive result against one of the newly-promoted teams, especially in front of their own supporters.

Testing outings against Aston Villa, Everton and Leicester City follow Saturday's encounter, and Dyche will be relying on Ashley Barnes to add to his four strikes for the season.

As for Norwich, they have had a week to digest their stunning result against Man City, and it would not come as much of a surprise if the Canaries cannot replicate the same level on Saturday.

Nevertheless, Daniel Farke will be drumming into his players that they have to treat overcoming the champions as an isolated event if they are to capitalise on what is effectively a bonus three points.

Teemu Pukki, now with six goals and two assists to his name, remains the standout star of this team, but many of his teammates proved against City that they can play a significant role in keeping the club in this division.

Norwich now face four matches in a row against opponents whom they will regard as potential rivals in a battle for survival, and avoiding defeat at Turf Moor will be considered to be another positive result in their efforts to keep themselves away from the bottom three.

Team News

Dyche has revealed that Johan Berg Gudmundsson is back in training after a calf problem, although the Iceland international may not necessarily return to the squad.

Changes are likely to be kept to a minimum, with Hendrick and Matej Vyrda expected to remain on the bench despite their contribution as substitutes at the Amex Stadium.

Norwich are still without all of their long-term injury victims, although Patrick Roberts will return to the squad having been unable to play against parent club City last weekend.

Barring any late fitness issues, Farke is expected to select the same XI which began their famous triumph at Carrow Road.

Burnley possible starting lineup: Pope; Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Pieters; Lennon, Westwood, Cork, McNeil; Barnes, Wood

Norwich City possible starting lineup: Krul; Byram, Amadou, Godfrey, Lewis; Tettey, McLean; Buendia, Stiepermann, Cantwell; Pukki

We say: Burnley 1-2 Norwich City

While it may turn out to be a case of after the Lord Mayor's show for Norwich, Burnley are the team who are under pressure after dropping down towards the relegation zone. This should play into Norwich's favour, and we feel that the visitors will do enough to claim a hard-fought triumph.
