Anthony Pilkington withdraws from Republic of Ireland squad

The Republic of Ireland will have to make do without the services of Anthony Pilkington for their upcoming fixtures against England and Georgia.

The Norwich City midfielder scored for the Canaries during yesterday's 3-2 win away at Manchester City in the Premier League, but also picked up a knee injury.

Having had the complaint assessed, it has been decided that the 24-year-old should not be risked.

Coach Giovanni Trapattoni is yet to confirm if he will select a replacement for the Blackburn-born player.
