Isabell Herlovsen brace inspires Norway victory over Thailand

Herlovsen brace inspires Norway victory

Norway have opened their 2015 Women's World Cup campaign with a comfortable 4-0 victory against debutants Thailand in Ottawa.

Thailand started brightly, but fell behind when Trine Ronning's 15th-minute free kick beat Waraporn Boomsing low down to her right.

From that point, Norway began to assert themselves on proceedings and doubled their lead before the half-hour mark through Isabell Herlovsen's strike.

Herlovsen netted her second of the game with a free header at the near post, which left Boomsing helpess in the Thailand goal.

Norway wrapped up an emphatic victory midway through the second half when Lyon striker Ada Hegerberg got on the scoresheet at the Landsdowne Stadium.

The Scandanavians now face Group B rivals Germany in Ottawa on Thursday before looking to seal their passage into the knockout stages against the Ivory Coast next Monday.
