Northwich Victoria manager given 10-match ban for sexist abuse

Northwich Victoria manager Lee Ashcroft has been given a 10-match stadium ban and £800 fine by the Football Association for sexist abuse.

The 40-year-old has also been ordered to undergo an "appropriate education programme" in the next four months.

Ashcroft was found guilty of using "abusive and/or insulting words towards an opposition football coach which included a reference to her gender" during a match against Gresley on January 12.

The former Wigan Athletic winger has notified the FA of his wish to appeal the sanction.
