Borussia Monchengladbach's new signing Granit Xhaka has insisted that the Bundesliga is the best league in world football.
The 19-year-old signed a five-year deal with the German club on Friday, and he has admitted his delight at the move.
"Gladbach's board is standing behind me. They have given me confidence right form the start. I wanted to stay at an international level," he told Express.
"I'm making the next step [in my career]. The Bundesliga is the strongest league in the world. It's an exciting challenge.
"I have not come to Gladbach to fight against relegation. In the Bundesliga, for me, the goal is to get back into the top four. I want the club to play well in the Champions League."
Gladbach finished the Bundesliga season in fourth position.
