'Mount & Blade' studio calls for improved eSport regulation

Mount & Blade: Warband studio Taleworlds Entertainment has called for improved regulation in the eSport industry.

The company's community and PR manager Frank Elliott said that more must be done to tackle abuse and offensive behaviour from professional gamers.

"eSports really relies upon players with personalities," he told MCV. "That's what creates the storylines around eSports. Twitch has really enabled that in a big way.

"We need to do the same thing that normal sports does - regulate it.

"We need to get more professional; we need coaches saying, 'you can't behave like that, because it's embarrassing for us and our sponsors'. That's how it gets resolved - people grow up."

Competitive Call of Duty tournaments have come under fire in the past after videos of eSport professionals hurling abuse at one another appeared online.
