Scudamore: '39th game is unlikely'

Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore has said that a 39th game in the Premier League is unlikely to come to fruition.

An extra game for each club had previously been proposed in order to bring Premier League football to other countries.

"I don't think it's as likely as it was then only because I think the fan reaction to it has been so negative in the UK. The core part of our show is that attending fan," Scudamore told CNN.

"Until you can get them comfortable with the idea I don't think it's really going to happen.

"The commercial imperative perhaps isn't there like it was seven or eight years ago."

MLS commissioner Don Garber has said that a 39th game would threaten his league's future.
