Saturday's Barcelona transfer talk news roundup: Eric Garcia, Lionel Messi, Ansu Fati

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Barcelona on Saturday, November 21.

The summer transfer window has now closed, shutting the door on one of the most turbulent spells in Barcelona's history.

The Spanish giants were rocked by Lionel Messi's request to leave the club, sparking a bitter contract dispute which ultimately ended with the six-time Ballon d'Or winner reluctantly agreeing to stay for at least another season.

Other notable names such as Luis Suarez, Ivan Rakitic and Arturo Vidal did leave, though, while Messi's future is sure to be the subject of much more speculation going forward.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer news from the Camp Nou.

Saturday morning's Barcelona transfer talk news roundup:

Report: Barcelona priced out of January move for Eric Garcia

Barcelona have reportedly accepted that they have little chance of signing Eric Garcia in January after being priced out of a move for the Manchester City centre-back.

Garcia is one of a few confirmed targets for Barca boss Ronald Koeman ahead of the winter transfer window, along with Georginio Wijnaldum and Memphis Depay.

The 19-year-old, who emerged through the Catalan giants' academy ranks, is into the final year of his City contract and does not appear as though he will agree fresh terms.

Despite Garcia's contract situation, however, Marca claims that the Citizens are still after €20m (£17.9m) from Barca - half up front and the other half in add-ons.

Barcelona are unwilling to pay that amount for a player who will become a free agent next summer, though they risk being beaten to his signature by a rival club.

Garcia has started four games for City in all competitions this season and earned his first senior Spain cap in September.

Manchester United 'made £134m bid for Ansu Fati over summer'

Barcelona youngster Ansu Fati was reportedly the subject of a €150m (£134m) offer from Manchester United during the summer transfer window.

The 18-year-old has scored 13 times and registered five assists in 43 appearances for Barca since breaking into the first team, including five goals and four assists in 10 outings this term.

The Spain international is expected to be out until March with a knee injury but his club are said to be working on a new contract until the summer of 2026.

According to Sport, super-agent Jorge Mendes set up a €150m (£134m) move to United over the summer, but Barca quickly rejected the 'dizzying' proposal.

The report claims that the La Liga giants were not even prepared to entertain the offer due to Fati's importance to their long-term project, particularly with Lionel Messi expected to leave next summer.

The teenager is believed to have a £367m release clause in his current deal at Camp Nou.
