Puel set to make changes for cup clash at Wolves but says side he picks can win

Caglar Soyuncu could make his debut for Leicester.

Claude Puel is set to make changes for the Carabao Cup match at Wolves but the Leicester boss has vowed the side he picks will be strong enough to win the third-round clash.

Puel will take the opportunity to rest several key players. He hinted last week that central defender Harry Maguire was due a break, while goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel and striker Jamie Vardy are also expected to be left out on Tuesday night.

It could be a chance for £19million summer signing Caglar Soyuncu to make his debut for the Foxes.

“We will use all the squad. We have a good opportunity, I think, to maintain a very good level on the pitch with different players,” said Puel at his pre-match press conference.

“In my mind I have not picked the team yet but I will put out on the pitch a team with the ability and the quality to win the game and continue in this competition.

“We have a good squad and I think it is important to win to continue the journey in this competition and also give game time to maintain the level of the players, and sometimes the experienced players and to improve other players.

“It is a good opportunity because we have a fantastic squad and it is time to give them some game time and maintain the results.

“It would be a success to continue this journey. It will be possible with the quality of the players and the squad, 11 players cannot continue all the time playing every three days.

“I have confidence in my squad and of the quality of my players. I am sure we will make a good performance and I hope at the end a good result.”

Midfielder Matty James remains sidelined with an Achilles problem and is Leicester’s only injury absentee.
