Michel Platini against goal-line technology

Platini reiterates anti-technology stance

UEFA president Michel Platini has reiterated his stance against goal-line technology.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter had recently suggested that a system could be introduced for the start of the 2012/13 season.

"How often do you have an incident where there is a real doubt as to whether the ball crossed the line? Perhaps once every 40 years," Platini said. "I'm afraid that if you start with technology which is used once every 40 years, it could lead to other uses for the technology and I'm afraid that maybe this could lead to video refereeing. I don't think this technology is really good for football."

The Football Association recently claimed that technology could be used in the Premier League from next season.
