Brazilian legend Pele believes that Neymar can become one of the greatest players in the world.

Brazilian legend Pele has stated that he believes Neymar can mature to become the greatest player in the world.

The 71-year-old has been full of praise for the young striker ever since he burst onto the scene two years ago, and believes that the Santos striker can surpass his abilities.

"Although we cannot talk of him as an heir because each player is different, Neymar has the ability to be better than me," said Pele.

Pele also stated that be believes Neymar can be better than Lionel Messi. He said: "For me the two are technically very good, but Neymar is more complete because he shoots with both feet, and dribbles from both sides."

The 19-year-old striker is widely expected to leave Santos in 2012, with a number of European clubs interested.
