Mick McCarthy open to international management

McCarthy would "consider" international role

Former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Mick McCarthy has admitted that he would "consider" returning to international management.

The 53-year-old, who has been out of work since getting sacked from Molineux in February, was close to joining Nottingham Forest before rejecting an offer from the City Ground.

"I'd say I would consider [international football] again and that's not necessarily here because South Korea approached me a few years back; that job was mine, but I turned it down. I've had a number of enquiries as to whether I'd be interested in international jobs."

McCarthy's last international job was with the Republic of Ireland from 1996 to 2002.
