John McGlynn declared himself a great fit for Raith Rovers after returning to the Fife club as manager.
McGlynn will succeed Barry Smith and has brought Paul Smith back to the club for a second time as his assistant.
The 56-year-old led Rovers to the Second Division title in 2009 during a six-year spell with the club before leaving for Hearts in 2012. He later managed Livingston and has recently been working as a scout for Celtic.
McGlynn told RaithTV: “I’ve got a great feeling for the place. Everyone knows my history here previously. It was a successful time for myself and also for Paul.
“That was a big part of me coming back, getting Paul to come with me, because we worked really well as a team and I know I can trust Paul.
“For me, certain people fit certain clubs, and I fit this club.”
Rovers sit second in Ladbrokes League One after letting the title slip out of their grasp on the final day of last season and losing to Alloa in the play-offs.
“It’s a big challenge, we should state that right from the start,” McGlynn said. “It won’t be an easy job, I think the fans can see that as well. But I am certainly up for the challenge – looking forward to it, enthusiastic, motivated to meet it head on and get at it.
“Positionally wise it’s better than 12 years ago when I walked in the door when we were second bottom of the same league. We’re sitting second top and there’s only one team to go past. And that’s the objective.”
