Emile Heskey scores first A-League goal

Former Aston Villa striker Emile Heskey has opened his goalscoring account for the Newcastle Jets in the club's 3-2 win over Sydney FC.

The 34-year-old, who had registered just one goal in his previous 41 games, scored a powerful volley in the 41st minute to put his side 2-1 ahead.

The former Liverpool striker joined the Australian outfit on a free transfer in the summer.

Heskey's last goal came for Villa in August 2011.
