A football fan has been shot dead in South Africa after a pitch invasion following Kaizer Chiefs' victory over Chippa United.
The incident occurred at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth, a venue which was used for the 2010 World Cup.
Police spokesman Johan Rheeder told South Africa's Herald that an unidentified man died at the scene after trying to disarm a police officer.
Rheeder said: "The man tried to take the policeman's gun and during the scuffle the gun went off and the person was shot."
Thousands of fans had ran onto the pitch to celebrate Kaizer Chiefs' season, which saw them finish champions for a record 12th time.
