The Football League has revealed that artificial pitches will not be making their way back into the Championship and Leagues One and Two.
In November last year a vote between the 72 clubs in the League ended in an unprecedented tie, so the matter was again considered at a meeting last week.
"Having considered all the available information and having heard from relevant experts at last week's meeting, clubs have reached the conclusion that they do not wish to pursue the matter any further, as a majority of them prefer to play their matches on grass pitches," read a statement today.
Artificial pitches can currently be used in the FA Cup and at Conference level down.
