FIFA reject Bin Hammam appeal

FIFA have rejected an appeal by Mohamed Bin Hammam over his lifetime ban from football.

Bin Hammam was found guilty in July of bribing Caribbean voters to back his campaign to become FIFA president.

The case will now be taken to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

"The appeal made by Mohammed Bin Hammam has been rejected and the decision of the FIFA ethics committee confirmed. The sanction of being banned from taking part in any kind of football-related activity at national and international level for life has therefore been maintained," a statement from FIFA read.

The 62-year-old withdrew from this year’s presidential race after the allegations of bribery, leading to incumbent president Sepp Blatter’s fourth consecutive term as the head of football's world governing body.
