Brazil legend Rivaldo makes comeback at 43

Former World Player of the Year Rivaldo has come out of retirement to play for Mogi Mirim at the age of 43.

The World Cup winner is the club president at the Brazilian second division outfit, who are currently bottom of their league.

Rivaldo played for 68 minutes of the match, which his team went on to win 2-1 to move level on six points with fellow strugglers Ceara.

"After one year and three months, I started training back again and went out to play at a match after just 20 days and that inspires any younger player," Rivaldo told reporters.

"I helped the team get out of this predicament. We are still in a difficult situation and we are doing our best to get out of it."

Rivaldo scored 35 goals in 74 appearances for Brazil and helped his country to win the 2002 World Cup.
