David Bernstein eyes role for David Beckham at Football Association

Bernstein wants FA role for Beckham

Football Association chairman David Bernstein has called on the governing body to give David Beckham a role within the setup in the future.

The 37-year-old has insisted that he wants to remain on the pitch for one more season after leaving Los Angeles Galaxy this month and Bernstein believes that the former England captain should help the development of English football when he retires.

"He's an asset that English football should treasure," Bernstein told Sky Sports News. "I hope at some stage the Football Association and David Beckham can get together, but that's a little way down the road.

"He's a great figure for English football, a unique figure, probably the most recognisable sports figure in the world I suspect."

Beckham has been linked with moves to the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Queens Park Rangers and West Ham United.
