Swarm of bees cause 12-minute halt to South African cup match

Bees halt South African cup game

A swarm of bees caused a 12-minute delay to a South African MTN8 cup match.

The game in Pretoria between Platinum Stars and Mamelodi Sundowns was brought to a halt when the bees descended on a microphone behind a goal.

The microphone was taken from the pitch after several groundsmen used a plastic bag and a fire extinguisher to contain the bees.

Platinum Stars were leading 2-0 before the unusual stoppage.
