Ajax boss Frank de Boer says that this season's title win was more satisfying than claiming the crown last year.

Ajax boss Frank de Boer has said that this season's title win was more satisfying than claiming the crown last year.

The Amsterdam side were crowned Eredivisie champions for the second time in consecutive campaigns following their 2-0 victory over VVV.

"For the fans, last season was special because they waited so long for the third star on the shirt," de Boer said. "But for me and my staff this one feels more beautiful seeing what happened this season.

"All the injuries we had and then the turbulence through all the problems in our board, but we stayed loyal to our vision."

Ajax claimed their 13th win on the bounce courtesy of a Siem de Jong brace. The victory put them six points clear of second-placed Feyenoord Rotterdam with one game remaining.

De Boer, who took over from Martin Jol in 2010, won five titles with Ajax as a player between 1988 and 1999.
