Report: Mike Williamson turns down loan move to Preston North End

Newcastle United defender Mike Williamson has turned down a loan move to Preston North End, according to reports.

The 31-year-old is yet to feature in a Premier League match for the Magpies this season, having only played in his side's 4-1 League Cup win against Northampton Town.

According to the Chronicle Live, the Championship outfit were keen on signing Williamson on a temporary basis, but the defender wants to fight for his place at St James' Park.

Williamson's contract is up at the end of the season after signing for Newcastle from Portsmouth in 2010.
