Newcastle United attacker Christian Atsu turns down the chance to join Celtic on loan, according to a report.

Newcastle United attacker Christian Atsu has reportedly rejected a loan move to Celtic.

The 28-year-old, who has also been linked with Nottingham Forest, has failed to score in 22 appearances for Steve Bruce's side during the 2019-20 campaign.

According to Sky Sports News, Celtic approached the Magpies in the hope of agreeing a loan deal, but Atsu signalled that he wanted to stay at St James' Park to fight for his spot.

The former Chelsea youngster signed a four-year contract with Newcastle in May 2017 having spent the 2016-17 campaign on loan at the club in the Championship.

Atsu has contributed three assists in 18 Premier League outings during the current season.
