Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew says that the team need the backing of the fans to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Alan Pardew has said that Newcastle United need support from their fans if the club are to avoid relegation.

The Magpies are just three points clear of the drop zone with two games left to play this season.

The manager told the club's official website: "We're very much aware that the games we've got left are very, very important for this football club, and not just this football club but this city.

"The mood of this city is bred off the back of this football club. Since the Sunderland game, I think we've all gone in different directions and the city needs to come together for these last two games, particularly the home game when we play Arsenal.

"We still might need points in that game so it's very important. When we're together, when the fans are super-positive with us and get behind us, this is momentum that's very difficult for the opposition and that's what we need to get back to."

Newcastle face Queens Park Rangers tomorrow.
