Steve McClaren wants Newcastle United backroom team sorted by Monday

Steve McClaren is keen to have his backroom team at Newcastle United sorted by Monday.

Newcastle United's new head coach Steve McClaren has said that he is hopeful he will have his backroom team finalised by Monday.

The former England manager was appointed by the Magpies on Wednesday on a three-year deal, which could be extended to eight depending on performance.

Prior to McClaren's official arrival, coaches John Carver and Steve Stone were sacked by the Premier League outfit, leaving the new leader to bring in his own men.

"I'm talking to people over the next two or three days and hopefully by Monday I will have enough people in place but I can't say at the moment because maybe they don't know the situation with their own jobs," The Chronicle quotes McClaren as saying.

Paul Simpson, who worked as McClaren's assistant manager at Derby County is reportedly in line to join him at St James' Park, while Steve Black is also expected to be part of the backroom team.
