Seedorf: 'Van Persie takes too much responsibility'

Clarence Seedorf believes that Robin van Persie puts too much pressure on himself when he pulls on a Holland shirt.

The Arsenal striker failed to replicate his club form earlier today as the Dutch slumped to a 1-0 defeat against Denmark during their Euro 2012 opener.

Reflecting on the performance of his fellow countryman, former Holland international Seedorf has insisted that Van Persie should be more relaxed while on international duty.

"It happened to Van Persie at the 2010 World Cup," Seedorf told BBC Sport. "He takes on the responsibility, maybe too much. He should be flying after a season like he has had [with Arsenal].

"He's not relaxed enough. When he plays against Arsenal it's a different Van Persie."

The 28-year-old has scored 28 goals at international level.
