Thomas Rooney released on police bail

Wayne Rooney's father has been released by police along with four other people being questioned over the alleged betting scam regarding an SPL match between Motherwell and Hearts last year.

The Manchester United star's father Thomas, along with his uncle, has been released on bail while five other people arrested by Merseyside police remain in custody.

It emerged earlier today that Motherwell midfielder Steve Jennings, who was sent off eight minutes into the match in question, was arrested over suspicions of illegal betting.

Motherwell have yet to comment on the incident.
