Morocco lodge complaint about 2026 WC bid
The Moroccan Football Federation complains to FIFA about potential conflicts of interest in the voting process to determine which nation hosts the 2026 World Cup.

The Moroccan Football Federation has lodged a complaint with FIFA about the voting process to determine which nation hosts the 2026 World Cup.

The African nation, which is aiming to stage the tournament, is unhappy that US overseas territories have the right to vote for a host nation, according to BBC Sport.

USA, Mexico and Canada are putting together a joint bid for the 2026 competition and the Moroccans believe that Guam, American Samoa, the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico should not be given a right to vote due to the potential conflict of interest.

Residents of Guam, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands are American citizens, while those of American Samoa are US nationals.

The Moroccan FA is said to have written to FIFA to demand that the US overseas territories be stripped of their votes.
