Matthew Briggs eager to work under Ian Holloway at Millwall

Matthew Briggs reveals that the chance to play under manager Ian Holloway was the main reason behind his recent move to Millwall.

Millwall's new signing Matthew Briggs has revealed that the chance to play under manager Ian Holloway was his main reason for joining the club.

The defender, 23, penned a one-year contract with the Championship side last week following an eight-year spell with Fulham.

Briggs is now eager to further his career at The Den under the guidance of Holloway.

"All I really wanted to do was to play under this manager," he told the club's official website. "He knows what I can do, I know what I can do and I hope he brings the best out of me. We're going to work together very closely and hopefully I can push on this season.

"I've got a fresh start now, a manager who believes in me and I just have to play well for him. Everyone here wants to play for the manager."

Millwall start the new season at home to Leeds United on Saturday.
