Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to bring in Olivier Giroud cover?

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly aiming to a striker after learning that leading forward Olivier Giroud could miss up to three months of the season.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly ready to return to the transfer market to sign a striker after learning that Olivier Giroud could be out for three months.

The Frenchman, his club's top goalscorer last season with 22 goals in all competitions, may have broken his ankle in the 2-2 draw with Everton on Saturday.

With only inexperienced duo Yaya Sanogo and Joel Campbell at the Emirates Stadium to provide cover, Giroud's injury will force Wenger into recruiting a forward before the close of the summer window, according to The Telegraph.

Want-away Queens Park Rangers frontman Loic Remy, who has long been linked with the Gunners, apparently heads a three-man shortlist of targets which also includes Danny Welbeck, who has allegedly been told that he can leave Manchester United.

Experienced marksman Samuel Eto'o is also thought to be on Wenger's radar, but the Cameroonian free agent is expected to join Everton this week after leaving Chelsea at the end of last season.
