Ray Parlour: 'Danny Welbeck is not the answer to Arsenal's striker woes'

Ray Parlour believes that Manchester United's Danny Welbeck would not be the answer to Arsenal's lack of striking options.

Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour has claimed that Danny Welbeck would not be the answer to the club's lack of striking options.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been linked with a move for the Manchester United frontman after Olivier Giroud was ruled out for three months.

Parlour believes that Arsenal should have attempted to sign Loic Remy, who has joined Chelsea from Queens Park Rangers.

"That is the position where they are really struggling," Parlour told talkSPORT. "I thought Remy was the choice with his experience, the obvious choice.

"Welbeck is a young player, he's still learning, without a doubt he's better than [Yaya] Sanogo, a player, but he blows hot and cold. You can see him have fantastic games, but he's a little bit inconsistent."

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly confident of signing Welbeck on a season-long loan deal.
