Manchester United are reportedly prepared to hand a long-term contract to Sunderland defender Logan Pye, who is also interesting Arsenal.

Manchester United are reportedly keen to edge out Arsenal in the race to sign Sunderland youngster Logan Pye.

While he is yet to make his first-team debut for the Black Cats, the 16-year-old is already a regular with the Under-18s, making 13 outings in the Premier League division at that level.

However, the left-back's regular appearances have inevitably led to interest from elsewhere, including the Gunners, who are eager to get a deal for the teenager over the line.

The Sun claims that the North London outfit face strong competition from United, who have identified the left-back as a potential star of the future.

Despite Brandon Williams having recently progressed from the academy to impress in the same position, United are seemingly willing to hand Pye a five-year contract.

Should a deal materialise, Pye would likely spend time in United's youth setup before being considered for the first team.
