Madrid 'resigned to losing Varane to Man Utd'

Real Madrid are reportedly resigned to losing Raphael Varane to Manchester United after the centre-back agreed personal terms with the Premier League club.

The France international, who has spent the past 10 seasons at the Bernabeu, is due to become a free agent in a little under a year's time.

Varane is supposedly eager to start a new challenge elsewhere, but Madrid can still demand a big fee for the 28-year-old despite his contract situation.

According to the Daily Mail, Los Blancos had been keen to tie Varane down to a new deal, but they have now accepted that his heart is set on a move to Old Trafford.

Former Lens defender Varane is said to have verbally agreed a five-year deal with United that would see him become Harry Maguire's long-term partner at the back.

Should he arrive, Varane would become United's second big-money arrival of the summer, as Jadon Sancho's move from Borussia Dortmund is expected to go through over the next week.
