Mario Lemina wants to stay in England amid Manchester United interest

Lemina wants next club to be in England

Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina has declared that he wants his next club to be in England amid interest from Manchester United.

The 25-year-old, who moved to Southampton from Juventus in 2017, has informed the club of his desire to leave this summer.

United have reportedly made an enquiry for Lemina as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seeks to boost his midfield options following the departures of Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera.

Speaking to France Football, Lemina said: "The best thing for me would be to stay here, but I don't close the door on any club, or any country. I aspire to play in the very biggest clubs, now we will see what is offered to me.

"I made a good impression in England, I received good feedback at a certain point, so I hope that clubs won't have a short memory."

Lemina, who has also received interest from Arsenal, was not named in Southampton's 25-man squad for their pre-season tour in Austria.

United want to make their next signing a central midfielder, and have reportedly entered talks with Sporting Lisbon for Bruno Fernandes, who is valued at £70m.
