Emre Can completes a deadline-day move from Juventus to Borussia Dortmund.

Emre Can has completed a deadline-day move from Juventus to Borussia Dortmund, ending speculation that he could return to the Premier League this transfer window.

The 26-year-old had been agitating for a move away from Turin this month after finding opportunities limited under Maurizio Sarri, with the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and his former club Liverpool all linked with his signature.

Dortmund moved into pole position in recent days, however, and have now confirmed his transfer on an initial €1m (£840,000) loan deal with an obligation to buy for €25m (£21m) in the summer.

Michael Zorc, sporting director at the German side, said: "In Emre Can we get a German national player who can be used across multiple systems in defence as well as in central midfield. A player who brings in his technique as well as his technique and has a strong will to win."

Writing on Twitter after the announcement, Can said: "I want to say thank you to everyone at Juventus for their support. To my teammates, the staff and everybody behind the scenes. It was an honour to represent this great club and I will carry the memories in my heart. Grazie Mille. Forza Juve."

After leaving Liverpool for Juve in June 2018, Can made 45 appearances for the side, contributing four goals, winning one league title and the Italian Super Cup.
