Bayern Munich 'in advanced talks to sign RB Leipzig's Dayot Upamecano'

Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in signing RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano this month, with talks currently at an advanced stage.

Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in signing RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano this month, with talks currently at an advanced stage.

The German champions are understood to have accepted that versatile defender David Alaba will leave the club when his contract expires in the summer.

Marca reports that Bayern have identified Upamecano as the ideal replacement for the Austrian international and would be keen on acquiring the defender in January.

German journalist Alfred Draxler has also revealed that Hansi Flick's side are interested in the Frenchman and that talks have been held.

"I know that Bayern have been in contact with Upamecano's agent and that talks are advanced," Draxler told Sport 1.

Upamecano, who is understood to have a €42m (£40m) release clause, has made 14 appearances in the Bundesliga this season and has played five times in the Champions League.
