Manchester United team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Manchester City

Man Utd injury, suspension list vs. Man City

Manchester United will be expecting a response in arguably the biggest game of the Premier League season so far when they welcome local rivals and title chasers Manchester City to Old Trafford on Wednesday.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side were humiliated at Goodison Park on Sunday as Everton ran riot with a 4-0 drubbing, making it back-to-back defeats during which time United have shipped seven goals without scoring.

Indeed, it is now six losses from their last eight outings across all competitions ahead of Wednesday's derby, which could prove to be a pivotal contest in the top-four race as well as the title race.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest injury and suspension news for United ahead of the showdown.

MANCHESTER UNITED'S INJURY NEWS

Ander Herrera

Status: Slight doubt Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: April 24 (vs. Man City)

Sunday's match came too soon for Ander Herrera, but the Spaniard is back in training following a hamstring injury and could be in contention for the derby.

Phil Jones

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Knock Possible return date: April 24 (vs. Man City)

Phil Jones was forced off at half time of the defeat at Everton after picking up a knock, and he will be assessed before determining whether he will be fit in time for the derby.

Eric Bailly

Status: Slight doubt Type of injury: Concussion Possible return date: April 24 (vs. Man City)

Eric Bailly is back in training after picking up a head injury during last month's international break and should be available for selection in midweek.

Antonio Valencia

United captain Antonio Valencia remains sidelined with a muscular injury and faces a race against time to return before the end of what could be his final campaign at the club.
